Constipation Relief
Pelvic floor therapy in Denver for constipation, difficulty releasing bowel movements, painful bowel movements, or other GI issues that is gentle & trauma-informed
Time for easy, regular bowel movements! Chronic constipation is often impacted by the pelvic floor
Constipation is influenced by more than just what you eat or drink. If you've tried fiber, laxatives, and every "gut health hack" out there with limited success, pelvic floor therapy may be the missing piece.
Comprehensive, Holistic Treatment for Constipation & Other Gut Dysfunction
The pelvic floor muscles support the rectum and aid in the functioning of the sphincters to release stool.
Muscle tone, strength, coordination, breath, nerve functioning, scar tissue, chronic conditions, and more can impact how these muscles engage and release to aid in bowel movements and urges.
Pelvic health addresses more than just the pelvic floor.
How your organs function and anything that might be impacting that is all part of the equation. Treatment is holistic, looking at the full picture.
The Brain-Gut Connection
The brain and the gut are highly connected. We work with a neurological based lens to optimize this relationship and minimize the impact this may be having on your gut function.
Sessions at our Denver clinic may include:
Coordination training
Biofeedback methods
Scar tissue and adhesion mobilization
Visceral mobilization
Muscle lengthening & mobility
Strengthening
Nerve retraining
Habit & routine training
Positioning & breath mechanics
Nervous system regulation
Brain response reprocessing
Nutrition & hydration
Trigger point release
Manual techniques
Do any of these bowel symptoms sound familiar?
Straining to poop
Requiring a lot of hard pushing to pass stool, sometimes with limited success
Incomplete bowel emptying
Feeling like you never fully finish and there’s still stool “stuck”
Infrequent bowel movements
Textbook answer to this is fewer than 3x a week…but really anything consistently less than 1x a day is infrequent.
Pelvic pain or pressure
Discomfort during or after bowel movements, or possible heaviness after straining
Sitting on the toilet for longer than 15 minutes
Ideally it does not take this long to actively attempt to have a bowel movement, if it does there may be more going on.
Laxative dependence
Relying on medications, enemas, or a colonic cleanse to be able to go to the bathroom.
Meet Your Therapist
Hi, I’m Gina (she/her), your Pelvic Floor Occupational Therapist. I founded Anxious Pelvis Clinic in Denver because I believe pelvic pain care should feel nothing like the cold, clinical encounters many people have experienced. My work is informed by occupational science, pain science, trauma-informed practice, embodiment, and a deep respect for the mind–body connection. Too often women and AFAB individuals are dismissed in health care and provide sub-par care that leaves people feeling even more confused.
I aim to change that and provide you high quality care that truly listens to your concerns and addresses them effectively.
I love working with constipation through a holistic lens that makes sure we cover all the bases.
